Week 20 Short Update + Weekly Weigh-In

Last week planned vs. actual

  • Did not do stairs at all at work (not yet a habit + was busy and then didn’t feel like doing it before heading home)
  • Planned 2 AM Workouts – Done
  • Planned 1 Running or Spinning activity – Ran
  • No Spinning ( = no gym)

Running

Wednesday I did a round around the park (3.2km) and then 5 x 200m intervals with 200m rest (jogging) in between. Total 5.2KM

Saturday was the Rock’n’Roll Liverpool 5KM run – my Garmin measured 5.15KM

Sunday was the Rock’n’Roll Liverpool Half (and full) Marathon (my Garmin measured 21.25KM) and the 1 mile Fun Run (my Garmin measured 1.75KM)

Total Running: 33.35KM

Biking

A bit of extra biking here and there last week but nothing major like in the last weeks. Total: 25.2KM (basically just commuting and running errands).

Steps

My daily goal is 10,000 steps.  I recorded running with my other Garmin watch so that the steps would be kept separate to anything I ran.  Total steps 100,288 (well over the 10K per day)

and… the weekly weigh-in this morning…

As suspected I had no loss last week with my Liverpool trip right in the middle of the WW week. Basically I made decisions and my result is based on those decisions.  To be honest, there is no way I could have really counted points and, moreover, one should not be dieting the days before a half marathon anyway.  The carb-loader drink alone adds tons of calories/points and I’m not going to run 2.5 hours without having enough glucose stores, if you  know what I mean.  So, back to the grindstone this week – hopefully I’ll see another loss because… of course I’ll be away AGAIN for a few days which will throw me off track again. (next trip coming up in 10 days).

I figure if it takes me 3 weeks to lose a kilogram, then I have 12 weeks to lose 4 more and I think that is reasonable and doable. I would be extremely happy to lose 5KG before my birthday (in 15 weeks).  So that is the goal I’m striving towards.

Recap on Liverpool RnR Weekend coming up soon!

So tell me…

I’m late to the game – how was your week last week?  Do you tend to gain weight on vacation?

RnR Liverpool looked like it was such a fun race! It seems like the international RnR races are one big party and I love that! Can’t wait to read your recap.

    1. Renée says:

yes it was definitely a blast!

  2. I always think I am going to gain weight on vacations but I think I walk more and it evens out. Having said that, I d don’t weigh myself anymore ever.

  3. Great goal! I’m not someone who pays a ton of attention to my weight, but I do notice a difference in the way I feel after a trip and eating without thinking much about what I’m eating. Good luck on your goal!

    1. Renée says:

      Thanks Jenny!

  4. Stephanie says:

You have great goals for your weight loss, when you lose weight slower it is much easier to keep it off. Keep on doing what you are doing, be proud of yourself!

    1. Renée says:

      Thank you Stephanie!

  5. Will you be doing a recap of the RnR Liverpool races?
I probably DO gain weight on vacation but I never weigh myself !

    1. Renée says:

      Definitely working on a recap!

I wish I was at a point where I didn’t have to actually think about weighing myself – I’m envious of your position but one day I WILL be there. I don’t want weight loss and weighing myself to continue the rest of my life, so I am working on other things to get my head in a good place. At some point (age) it will also be too hard to be a certain number and I need to accept things as they are. TBH I am OK with myself right now but as I don’t “feel” 50 (almost 50) I guess my head is still saying “it would be nice to be a bit slimmer to run faster”. Make sense?

  6. Elaine D says:

RNR Liverpool sounds like a fun race just because of the location. I’m running RNR San Diego in 2 weeks!

It can be challenging to lose weight when you’re in the middle of training for a race. You have to replenish your body after a hard run, otherwise it can also affect your recovery. As you mentioned, it’s all about choices.

    1. Renée says:

Nice!! I hope you enjoy RNR San Diego! Have you run it before? I’ve been to SD only once but I LOVED it (not for a race though).

I think I made decent choices anyway while away. Could have been better, could have been worse. Wasn’t going to “diet” at the expense of my runs though, that’s for sure!

  7. Marcia says:

I never used to gain on vacay if I kept active but now with this 50+ shizz, I seem to gain weight by breathing and I definitely gained on vacay. Ugh. Can’t wait for the Liverpool recap!

    1. Renée says:

it has to be part age, right??? UGH!!!!
Working on the recap – watch this space!

  8. Rachel says:

It looked like you had a great time over the weekend! I look forward to your recap!

    1. Renée says:

I did have a great time – and hopefully will have the recap up by Monday!

  9. Wendy says:

Oh for sure you shouldn’t worry about your weight leading up to a race! Looking forward to the race recap!

    1. Renée says:

Thanks Wendy – you are right. Just have to keep it in check when I’m away and NOT racing ;)

  10. Your weight loss goal seems very reasonable. Keep at it!

    1. Renée says:

Thanks Kathryn! definitely am focusing on the goal now!

  11. runswithpugs says:

I cannot wait to hear about your Liverpool recap! I know you had so much fun!

Don’t worry about your weight, especially when you are racing. It will all work out just fine. You are working so hard and you will see the results you want in short order.

    1. Renée says:

You are right – I can’t worry about my weight right before or after a race!
Hopefully I can get my recap together this weekend – I sure had a great time!
