Hopefully you all are still enjoying this new link-up with  me, My First 5K and MoreRunning With Attitude,Runs with PugsZenaida every Friday.

I missed last week’s post but back again, this week with an additional link up,  Marcia’s Runfessional!

join the monthly runfessional!

Every month Marcia opens the runfessional – a place to let it all out and cleanse your soles; if you are needing to release some sweaty secrets or just want to get things off your chest, here’s the place to do it!

This week I have FIVE Runfessions I need to get off my chest…

I runfess

I am feeling a bit like a broken record these days. It’s the same routine all the time. Run two times a week, few times a week strength training, on the bike one or two times, notparkrun, walk, walk, walk, rinse, repeat.

I know we are in a pandemic. I know we can’t go anywhere. Unfortunately, it’s becoming a real snooze fest, y’all.

Yes I should be – and AM – grateful for my health, that I’m fit, that I can still get outside, that I can work out at home, that I’m employed, etc., etc. However, I’m so done with it all. We have no real end date in sight for when we can actually have a vacation or even go to the office! Seeing others get their lives back slowly is sometimes painful to watch. Just being honest with you all…

feeling a bit Jack Torrence over here, friends.

I runfess

Remember that Criss-Cross Virtual Illinois challenge I was doing? At my last runfessions, I mentioned that I hadn’t updated my kilometres for a while so I didn’t know exactly where I stood. But I figured I was still in a good place to finish both routes by May 1st.

I finished West – East, thankfully

Welp. I *finally* updated my mileage this week. And… To finish by May 1st I would have to walk/run 12.5 kilometres a day for the next 40 days!! UGH.

I contacted the organisation (because I also haven’t gotten my swag yet) and they told me not to worry, they were going to leave the leaderboard open for a month so that some of us who were behind, but still wanted to finish, would still make it. PHEW. That’s a relief!

That’s not to say I’m still not going to do my best, but now I know where I stand. AND… I’m going to update daily now.

Glad I wasn’t going for the gold on this challenge…

I runfess

As much as I like working out from home, I really, really, really, miss the gym. Obviously the reason is that I am longing for some variation in my daily routine.

That said, the hubs bought me this Les Mills step, which means I kind of have to continue doing my On Demand workouts (since nothing from LM is cheap). At least now I have a bit more motivation to try a few different workouts without feeling like I’m going to kill myself on the smaller step that I bought a year ago!

I runfess

I was asked to make a special video for a women’s expat group here in Arnhem. Maybe you remember vaguely that I did an Instagram takeover for Arnhem Together back in October? Well if you don’t remember that’s ok – ha! Anyway, It was so nice to be asked to be a part of the online event that will be taking place in April.

But I runfess I find it really, really hard to not only create content that kind of toots my own horn, and to write up a bio (which I finally managed but still feels weird) I don’t know why! And, friends, I am an insecure wreck trying to complete this task! And why does my voice sound like that??

Only I’m not signing, I’m just talking…

I runfess

I’ve now been off a week of work and I haven’t done A N Y T H I N G. I’ve run out of steam to do things in the house. Send me some juju, please! Maybe the fact that we did so much in the first few months and now it’s just a whole lot of little things… I just don’t know where to begin!

Motivation is necessary, I’m just not sure where it’s going to come from.

I had PLANS, y’all…

‘Fess up! What runfession do you feel you need to get off your chest?

Are you still not doing much, in the house all the time and getting a bit sick of it? Are you missing the office? Are you at all tired of home workouts? How do you feel about making videos and hearing your own voice recorded? Is not wanting to toot your own horn a Gen X thing? Do you run out of steam when doing home organisation projects?

I was so happy when our local rec center got Les Mills on Demand. They still have the regular Body Pump classes, where people are required to mask up, but I was not comfortable attending a class with 10 – 15 other people in the same room.
I can do the on Demand classes at the gym, use their equipment, and I am the only one in the room. Win/win!

I hope you can get your vaccine soon so you can get out and vary your routine a little bit. I think we all are done with the housebound thing.

  2. Coco says:

I feel your pain. After a full year, staying home is getting old. And now spring is adding insult to injury because I want to be sitting outside at a restaurant dining with friends …. I think you should cut yourself some slack on that home to-do list. You did SO MUCH when you first moved. I barely take my laundry off the drying rack before it’s time to do the next week’s washing. ;-)

Oh, and I think not wanting to toot your own horn is a female thing. At least that’s what I see and read about in the professional context (downside of self-reviews, etc)

  3. Marcia says:

I cannot freaking stand videos of myself. But I keep forcing myself to do them, in hopes I’ll improve eventually. Out of that comfy zone thing and all. Yeah the pandemic is old. So very old. The vaccine here is a total cluster. I’ll just stop now. Thanks for linking!

  4. Having a step at home is great and you will use it! I am so nervous doing videos of myself I did another one this morning. I talk way too fast!

  5. I know my singing voice is bad, but I’m sure it sounds even worse on video LOL I don’t like the sound of my voice either. Oh well. I runfess that I’m about two weeks behind on logging my IL Criss Cross miles…but I’m on track to finish in a couple weeks (I think?). I miss seeing you (and biking with you). Every Saturday has been busy for me now, and will probably continue until next winter. Our little biking babe group was fun!

Hugs. I’m missing when things were just easier. Every decision is just so hard, and it’s wearing. We have an appointment to get our first vaccines on Monday, so maybe that will help.

You’re going to do great with your video!

I had a 2000 mile challenge (with a team), and I was scared we weren’t going to finish. They also left the leaderboard open for an extra month, and we finished with plenty of time. You’ve got this!

  7. I know I am an introvert, but I am also getting tired of just being home. I hope things improve this year so at least we have a chance to meet up more with friends and family.

  8. Isn’t that the best step? I am a body pump instructor and I bought the full set of weights along with the step a few years ago and I love it.

  9. Darlene says:

I do like working from home because it gives me more time run and walk. And I don’t have to get dressed up. But I miss my clothes. I miss traveling to different places. I have a free gym and miss that too. Yup it’s the same old same old. Ugh.

If I ever record myself which is rare I cringe at my voice.

Today it is raining I have so many home projects. Wanna bet none get done. Lol

  10. Michelle D says:

I’m right there with you on feeling like a broken record when it comes to my weekly workouts. Everything about this pandemic has gotten so old and sadly it looks like it will be a while before I can get vaccinated.

I would cut yourself some slack on doing things around the house. You all got so much accomplished in such a short period of time! Nothing wrong with a little break :)

  11. […] I mentioned on Friday that I was trying to make a video of myself for Arnhem Together. It only took 386 takes in total but it’s finally done. I still feel like a giant dork, but hey, progress! I honestly don’t know how people can do videos so naturally. Is it just epic editing skillz? […]
