WRD: Week 16:2021 Another week done and it honestly feels like a blur

Don’t mind me, y’all, just my semi-monthly dip going on over here. Not sure if it just the state of <gestures to everything> or if I’m tired or if it’s chronic pain or … maybe a combination of it all?

Yes I mention chronic pain again because things haven’t really improved much – my feet are killing me and the knees don’t feel great either. I’m going through kinesio-tape like there’s no tomorrow and admittedly I’ve taken quite a dosage NSAID’s this week as well. It’s arthritis in the toes, plus arthrosis in both big toes so not much I can do about it. Boo hoo. Moving right along.

I had to go back to Garmin and my photos this week to see what all happened and when; hence feeling a bit blur-ish this week.

Running

Despite the sore knees, running felt pretty ok this week.

Wednesday was running day number 1 this week; I wanted to do intervals again and Ron suggested I do 1.2KM/ 400m and then I’d have “miles”. Weird, but ok! So in total it was 6KM running with 2KM recovery time.

Unfortunately Ron didn’t feel that great so he only did two rounds in the park while I finished the 3rd round on my own.

A little chilly, but still nice out

After spending a lot of time Friday pampering my knees and feet, I woke up Saturday for run number 2 with a little bit less pain than the previous days. Still at notparkrun I just took it easy and steady. No PB’s and no real need for them right now. It’s so lovely to just get together with a few people and run. We are definitely keeping each other going!

Walking

Monday morning was the only morning I managed a walk early before work. It was a tad rainy, but I managed.

Tuesday, since I’d already been out in the morning to bike to and from the dentist, I managed a walk with the hubs at lunch.

Thursday I went to the park after work where I found my friend Carrie and her dog Puk. So we walked and caught up with each other, which was nice. No photos of us, too busy talking!

I did stop to say hello to the deer before I saw Carrie and Puk

Friday I walked over to my old apartment; well, actually I needed to send something in the post AND I needed to pick up my last stimulus check so I figured I’d send from a postal point near there. Unfortunately there was no one home for me to pick up the mail (so I went Saturday). On the way back my feet really felt like I was in mile 20 of a marathon! Ugh.

Seems like the 3D paintings are back again, I saw this one at the shopping centre near where I used to live. I also saw the little sheep in the park. And what would a week be without a ‘mill photo (if you look carefully you can see it behind me in the middle photo.

Nothing too exciting this week as far as walks go – especially Sunday, when I’m normally out for a good hour or so; I opted for a rest day as I slept horribly and had quite the headache the first few hours of the day.

Cross-Training

I’d call it a good week for cross-training; Monday I already opted for a quick 30 minute RPM session at lunch.

Tuesday I did the full hour Bodypump 110 which I actually really liked! Also the fact that it’s filmed outdoors in New Zealand – the gorgeous scenery really made it worth doing.

Thursday I did the full RPM 77 (45min) at lunch. Buckets of sweat were released!

Friday morning I did Bodypump 110 again, this time over ZOOM with another Les Mills fan I met on the community forum! So a strength workout with a Nigerian lady in Pittsburg and an American lady in The Netherlands with the backdrop of New Zealand! Technology is amazing isn’t it!!

And of course I was back out on Kolette this week (my Koga F3) for the first time in F O R E V E R with a trip to the dentist and a trip back out to the old flat (succeeded Saturday picking up my check – still can’t cash it but, hey!)

Other Stuff

I think most noteworthy this week is that we bought a couple of plants to give ourselves a trial in caring for greenery in our home:

And… we finally sanded down the bookcase we bought a while ago on Saturday. On Sunday we painted everything once and will finish that job likely Monday, hopefully have the thing put together in our house and ready to fill with books early next week.

I also received the vintage apron my friend Marie-Claude made especially for me. She does a lot of cosplay and makes all her own costumes (which are amazing) and offered to make aprons for a donation to a cancer charity.

Oh and my other cushion covers that I ordered from Etsy arrived! These are for in the bedroom. Pardon my wrinkly duvet cover.

This Week In Numbers

Walking: 25.15KM
Running: 13 KM
Strength: Bodypump 2x
Biking: 18.1KM + Spin bike: 1 Short Remix, 1 Full RPM
Total steps: 74,554 (avg: 10,650 daily)

That’s a wrap!

How was your week? Did you get in all your workouts? Do you have houseplants? Do you take a rest day if you feel exhausted? I didn’t really make a strict plan this week but I feel good about what I did. Sometimes you just need to rest if your body gives you a few signs that it’s needed.

Comments

  1. Sorry you’re still having some pain! But especially considering that, it sounds like you had a really good week of workouts! I am all about taking extra rest days when I’m exhausted. I just try to consider whether I will feel better or worse after doing a workout.

  2. therightfits says:

Sorry about all the aches and pains. Hoping you get some relief soon. Great job getting out for some fresh air when you could!

  3. jenny says:

Ugh. I actually don’t know a lot about arthritis and running. I’m thinking running might help it a little- increase the fluid in the joints? Anyway, sorry you’re dealing with that. Pain is no fun! Sounds like you had a great week of workouts in spite of it.
Love those cushion covers! Especially the purple cat one.

  4. Yes to listening to your body and letting have some rest. I kind of ignored mine this week (but in a good way–> I felt “recovered” from my half marathon, but continued to play the recovery game anyways LOL). Gosh, I’m so sorry for all the foot pain you keep having. And, I totally LOVE the sugar skull pillow!

  5. well, I always have to go back to my Garmin and strava to see what i did for the week. it’s a great journal. Sorry to hear your knees are feet were bothering you this week. Hope you have a better week ahead

  6. Love the apron! Your friend is talented! Love the pillows too.

I used to have lots of plants … then I had lots of animals and let the plants go finally. Now I have a few plants. It’s good for the air!

I could see the windmill! Seeing ship in the “city” so to speak would be really cool.

  7. I am sorry to hear about your pain. Hugs to you. I also refer to my Garmin and photos to remember what I did this week. :-) I love those cushion covers!

  8. kookyrunner says:

Oh Renee :( I’m so sorry to hear about the pain that you’re experiencing. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the pain subsides soon.

OMG those cushion covers are so cool! You really can find anything on Etsy.

  9. Coco says:

I guess running feeling pretty ok is better than it could be. I hope your aches go away though. Chronic pain is draining. I mostly took a rest day today, but my mood is suffering because of it. I miss the fresh air and am bored from doing nothing I guess.

  10. Wendy says:

I swear you sound like me with the knee and foot pain…I hope you go back to the rheum and get it checked out. You know there is seronegative RA, right? I don’t want you to have it but if treatment can help…

I just love your eclectic taste and love of bright colors!

  11. Cari says:

Your poor feet. But glad you had a good week overall. Love the apron your friend made you

  12. Darlene says:

I feel for you on the feet and know exactly how you feel.

I ran 10 miles – they hurt but then I thought it was a good idea to go hiking after. By the last mile I wanted a wheelchair lol

Of course, I have a schedule each week but it only includes running.. and I feel no shame in skipping runs. I am more likely to though if I don’t have a plan.

As the weather gets nicer, I hope to be more motivated to walk or bike too. I’ve slacked off on that.

  13. runswithpugs says:

Ugh. I’m sorry for all the pain you are having. I wish there was a way to make it stop :(

I have zero houseplants. If someone doesn’t know me and gives me a houseplant, my mother discreetly rescues it when she visits. This house is a place of certain death for anything green. Right now, I have an orchid that K is trying to save from me. My mom is coaching him via phone, but I think she’s going to break down and steal it any day. I just hope she makes it in time.

  14. Marcia says:

Looks like you had some fun mail days! Sorry about the foot pain. I most definitely add in a rest day if my body needs it. I only have the houseplants we received when my dad died. So far they’re all hanging in there.

  15. Liz Dexter says:

Yes I certainly take a rest day if I feel tired! Sorry to hear about the foot and knee pain, that’s really tough. And no houseplants here, haven’t had any for a while as all cats have chewed them!
