Mid-Month Check In

Welp. I’m once again on that road. You know the one.

Good thing I’m an atheist now and don’t really believe in that hot fiery place, but man…

So basically, I asked co-pilot to devise a workout strategy for me based on activities I wanted to do in the week, with a total calorie burn of 3000.

I guess maybe one shouldn’t start such a challenge the week of their birthday! To be fair I DID burn just over 3000 calories that week but there was some consuming and imbibing so I pretty much just had what we call a “balance week”.

Second week did not start out well. I planned on run/walking to the gym, doing my strength training and then run/walking home. Unfortunately it was raining like Noah himself was about to pick up my cats for his Ark so I *only* did the gym. And then it went downhill. Busy work day, tired, excuse 1, excuse 2, and so on. On Tuesday I had my intake with the Pain Revalidation Clinic (more on that later) which was very intense and triggering (because pain is not always just physical, it can come from deep-rooted trauma) and I just had a very down week. So for sure I did not burn anywhere near 3000 calories.

I’m now on the third week and to be honest, I don’t know if I want to pursue it. I suppose if I do I better get off my bum.

That’s the exercise bit.

The other bits are actually going ok. I’m clearing things out, trying to keep things clean and tidy and working on small projects at home. I’ve made some nice pocket change off Vinted selling clothing and books I have no more use for. And, I’ve done quite a few things in the house but the one I’m most excited about is my vintage side table I’m finally re-doing. I’ve done the painting and now I’m waiting for my pulls, drawer liner and stencils to arrive for the finishing touches. You may or may not remember but at the beginning of the year I mentioned I wanted to do some more creative stuff and I find it’s very soothing and rewarding to bring something back to life.

So yeah. Could be better. Could be worse.

At least there have been a few positive things happen so far this month so it’s not all doom, gloom and failure.

But yeah. That’s where I’m at.

Hope y’all are having a good month so far.
