Out with the Old…
It was a hard year. I struggled to find the good, and while that has been the case for a while now, I was finally able to find something positive.
The biggest negative of course was saying goodbye to my dad. I still wake up almost every day remembering almost immediately that he is gone and I am not sure when or if that feeling will ever go away. It’s ok if it doesn’t. That just means that I loved him (I still do!) and he meant a lot to me (he still does!).
However…
Let’s Talk Positives
Both of my feet are fixed now – YAY!
Somehow, even with at least 12 weeks of the 52 off of any activity, I managed 22 parkruns! Besides my own I also ran in
- England – Penrith, Muncaster Castle, Somerdale Pavilion
- Germany – Pferdebachtal, Kemnader See
- Lithuania – Vingis
- Netherlands – Zuiderpark Hoogeveen, Kralingsebos, Oosterplas
And I reached my 100 milestone AND my 50th different location – whoo hooo!
Running – the lowest mileage I’ve ever had since I started running – a whopping 115 kilometers. BUT the fact that I ran AT ALL is already pretty amazing. Things can only get better right?
Walking – according to Garmin I had 150KM however that number is definitely higher. I ‘inherited’ my dad’s Apple Watch and then Ron bought me my own Apple Watch so that I could keep dad’s safe and intact. I also have my dad’s phone, but was still using my old phone for a while. Then things went wrong when I moved my watch from one phone to the other so I lost a lot of data. I mean, it sucks but it’s *just* data.
I’m grateful for all the kilometers I ran, walked and even biked this year. Everything was kind of a bonus especially considering the massive pain I had before surgeries.
I’m in therapy now for Chronic Pain Management – it’s tough because it’s mental and physical but I feel like there is some hope now – something I didn’t really have for a while. The therapy is to help me live with the pain that I have and approach it and cope with it in new ways that are more helpful. The mental stuff is REALLY hard but weirdly enough I feel more calm since starting.
In with the New
Time for some new Goals!
In 2026 I will:
- Continue my new Walk Streak (on day 27 as of publishing this post)
- Start running again with the C25K program
- Run 25 parkruns
- Participate in one 5K race and one 10K race
- Participate in walking events
- Focus also on strength and core
Again I feel hopeful that 2026 really can be a better year for me. And I would LOVE to have you all along for the ride with me. The blog and the community is still important to me and I’m grateful to have truly amazing women cheering me on.
Tell me ALL about how your year went and what your plans are for 2026!
