WRD: The (newest) comeback – Week 24/2026

I realize I have not done a weekly rundown since the beginning of the year but it’s always been my intention to come back and actually stay consistent.

Check out all the WRD links at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Running on the Fly

The plan this week was:

  • Monday – gym, walking
  • Tuesday – Tuesday Training, walking
  • Wednesday – walking
  • Thursday – walking
  • Friday – gym, walking
  • Saturday – parkrunday! + walking
  • Sunday – walking (baby shower for a friend)

Gym

Spot on with the gym this week. On Monday we walk/jogged the 2km to the gym, did about 40 minutes and then walk/jogged back. I did a little bit of cardio and then weights/ body weight.

On Friday it was raining so we decided to drive to the gym. I did a bit more cardio since I didn’t have the run/walk warm up and now have all the apps needed for the gym to also keep track of what I did. After the elliptical I did the leg press, glute bridge, dead bugs and then went on the stair machine for an additional 10 minutes.

It’s a start anyway! I’m really glad I went and that I’m also able to get Ron to come with me. He’s much more grumpy about it in the morning but always perks up once we are on the move.

Running

Tuesday Training didn’t happen due to no one being able to make it BUT this was a successful week of running for me, because I finally ran 5KM in one go on my own Tuesday! I was not aiming for anything, I did not have a timeline or a goal date, but I felt with the last couple of parkruns that just doing it should be possible.

  • Monday – 4KM walk/jog
  • Tuesday – 5KM
  • Saturday – 5KM parkrun! And again in one go. I’m back baby!!

Walking

The walk streak continues. It wasn’t a very hefty walking week this week though. Too much going on at home and work. Normally I would do a long walk on Sunday, but I’m going to a baby shower instead (for my Olympic Marathon friend Anne).

  • Monday – 3.5KM
  • Tuesday – 3.75KM
  • Wednesday – 2.5KM
  • Thursday – 2.5KM
  • Friday – 3.5km
  • Saturday – 1.5KM
  • Sunday – 3 KM*

Total: 20.25KM* (need to complete the 3KM for Sunday still)

A fairly good week as far as fitness goes. Now I need to get my stress levels under control.

Oh by the way, does home renovation count as fitness? Because we’ve been busy the whole week with our spare room (first was workspace/dumping ground, then workout space/ dumping ground and is becoming a true spare room where we can chill out, work on hobbies or have someone stay over. So, who’s coming to visit me? *wink*

Next week will look a bit different as I need to go to the office due to my UK colleagues being here, and I have to skip Training Tuesday due to an Arnhem Together meeting. Still planning on my gym days and getting a couple runs in.

How was your week?

Well Hello Again! I was excited to see you had been to Venice (on IG). We LOVED our trip to Italy.
Home projects can be a total workout! They always feel so great to be done (big accomplishment!).

Well done on the 5k! Have you got this heatwave now that we’re having? I can’t run anyway due to my sprained ankle, but if I was running, I wouldn’t be! The gym is too hot, too, yet I did NOT do arm exercises with my weights at home today …
