Time to cleanse our soles and runfess all that will lighten the load…
As a person who is not running much at the moment, what could I possibly have to runfess about ?
My Balance is Whacked
After all those years of pain in my feet/toes, and having the surgeries behind me, I thought I could just start running again. Nope! Come to find out after two pretty major falls (on the same side of my ribs) my balance is completely whacked. I have been running more on the outside of my foot to avoid more pain in the big toe (subconsciously). Now, I have to relearn how to place my foot when running. This could take a while but I’m willing to do what is necessary to get my gait back in a good place.
My posture isn’t great either
Speaking of doing necessary things, I started going to a chiropractor in addition to the physio who’s been helping me with determining which exercises to do to improve my balance. The chiropractor can also see that I’m just not really aligned very well, and with regular adjustments this should help me also get back on track.
I’m still running
Just not like I was before. I runfess I actually enjoy walking so much more right now and there is zero wrong with that. I am still a runner, but I need to get myself back into a good place for running. We can’t have me falling over constantly! My summer holiday was spent hiking in Scotland and not only was it so fulfilling, it gave me a lot of time and space to think and just “be” in nature and fresh air. Sure I can have that too with running but there are plenty of challenges out there for walking. Next year I’ve got my sights on Ben Nevis and in the coming years the Camino de Santiago.

Have you got any runfessions you need to get off your chest?
